South Kona Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) CERT is a national community resilience program that educates residents on how to prepare for and respond to hazards or emergencies that may threaten your community. CERT training builds personal knowledge and useful skills in fire safety, fire suppression, first aid, search and rescue, emergency commu- nications, incident response operations, and how to organize a team in your community. An Evening with Civil Defense - Yano Hall, Captain Cook Your Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency and your local South Kona CERT invite you for a talk story about CERT at Thursday, April 13th from 7 pm to 9 pm. Civil Defense will present details: (1) Learn about CERT Training and Re-Certification (for existing CERT members). (2) Learn about the on-line hybrid CERT training and sign up for the next class. (3) The next hands-on class in Kona will be at the West Hawaii Civic Center Saturday and Sunday, May 20 and 21, 2023. You must complete the on-line class before attending the hands-on class. Young adults age 17 may participate in this training with parental permission - bring your parents to the meeting! All persons 18 or older are encouraged to attend this meeting, especially if you enjoy serving your community or are considering a career as a Firefighter or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
