Held annually on Memorial Day on O`ahu’s south shore, Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaiʻi brings over 50,000 people on the beach, joined by thousands around the world via live streaming and telecast together for an evening of honoring our fallen military members, as well as all who laid a foundation for our present lives. The gathering serves to generate collective hope and courage toward the future.
Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaiʻi allows for a personal moment to remember, reflect, and offer gratitude to those who have gone before us and to reflect upon and commit to positive actions that will contribute to a brighter future for ourselves and others. It is a chance to be surrounded by the love, understanding, and support of others - even strangers who are experiencing many of the same feelings and emotions. We are strengthened as a community as we reach out to support others and build understanding of our common values and experiences.
