PIKE'S CORNER Last Sunday my family all went to the beach for a walk and they took the new puppy even though he can't touch the ground! We (Rome and I) didn't get to go because we would have wanted to go swimming and then the puppy would want down and since that couldn't happen we couldn't go! Mom said 3 more weeks until we can start adventuring again.3 more bloody weeks it's like a decade. I'll tell you what 2020 has been made even longer with this new addition to our family and I'm over it. So, the other day, I don't know why I did it, ok so I do know why, but that's not the point. Anyway, we play this game where we go to the side yard where there is a long sidewalk and my sister says " bang" and we run full out down the side yard and across the length of the backyard! This has been my sister and my game for as long as I can remember. Well, now the puppy plays with us. Well, Monday night I just couldn't stand one more minute and I decide to just run him over. Yes, I ran him over. I was like a car and when hit him he flew and then rolled across the cement sidewalk. I wanted to feel bad but l just couldn't. Then my mom scooped him up and I saw the skin missing from his front paw and the road rash on his chest and belly and the bloody spot on his chin and I felt a little bad but not enough to say I was sorry. He is just always underfoot and the fact he can't seem to sleep through the night is making us all crazy. I thought Rome was a pain when he was younger but Newton is next level! He also thinks my mom is his. This is not ok. He now is always directly under her feet. If she is cooking in the kitchen he is literally on the mat by the sink. She had to pull him out of the way to drain noodles for Pete's sake. I would have just kicked him but mom carefully pulled the mat over in the front of the dishwasher so she could finish dinner. Mom and dad spend equal time in bed as they do on the hard tile floor sleeping next to his kennel at this point. They are not spring chickens and I don't think this sleep arrangement is agreeing with them! They both walk around stiff and sore all the time like people much older than they are!! I feel bad for them honestly. Lets hope the next 3 weeks go by quickly and we can all get a life again soon. Obviously this puppy is here to stay.
