PET CHRONICLES HHHHHHEEEEELLLLLOO0000 2021! We thought you would never get here. In what has quite possibly been the longest year of all of our lives, we just want to take this moment for all of us to collectively take a deep breath. hold it for 3 seconds. and exhale out all that 2020 brought us and inhale 2021. Last night we decided to take part in an old Irish tradition at midnight. We opened all the doors, windows and even our garage door at midnight to let last year leave the house and welcome 2021 into our home with grateful hearts. As we all tentatively embark on 2021, we are excited, but we are definitely placing our feet ever so carefully as we set out into whatever 2021 will bring. We are so incredibly grateful for being able to have navigated this year. Keeping our staff employed, our patients cared for and with all of us staying relatively healthy. While we feel mentally, emotionally and physically drained, we also feel a renewed sense of self as we look forward to what is to come. We are keeping our expectations low, as we know the pandemic is still ebbing across our globe and while we are hopeful as we look forward to getting our vaccines and being able to take one more step towards the future we are also trying to be cautious in our predictions for the future. We would like to take this moment to tell you all how much your encouragement, love and support for our practice and our team have meant to all of us. We are so thankful for the words of encouragement, little treats, beautiful plants to brighten our day and the general feeling of compassion and understanding as we have navigated this event. We didn't find a ready-made blue print for operating a veterinary hospital in a pandemic. We made our own based on what the recommendations were from the AVMA, AAHA, the CDC and more. We listened, we held collective conversations with our team, we researched and we adapted and we not only managed to survive, we were able to come through it as a stronger team and with a better understanding ourselves and our community. We have a lot of work left to do and now is no time to let our guard down. We know when we work together we can do great things and we are looking forward to the day when we can welcome you all back inside. We can't wait until we can see your smiles and be there to comfort you when you need us most. Last year has taught us a lot of lessons. Our new puppy has punctuated those lessons with laughter and frustration but looking back we can only be grateful for those lessons, learn from them, grow and hope that no matter what comes our way, we can look back and say we have got this. We know what to do and we know how to do it. While I for one certainly do not welcome this experience any time in the near future, I know with the help of others, with the strength of others and with the love of others we can do hard things. In that spirit, we wish you all Merry Everything and Happy Always as we look towards the future. Happy New Year From all of us at KVH.
