Lions Club of Kona and Konawaena High Leo Club Continue to Serve Kona MONS (L) NTERNATIONAL Covid 19 did not stop us from July 1, 2020 - June 30, 2021! 77 service projects / 3,545 service hours 85,000 people benefit from services Konawena Leo Club OTHERJONT PROJECT WITH THE THE KONAWAENA MIGH SCHOOL LEO CLUB LIONS CLUB OF KONA COVID 19 PROJECTS - 145 cloth masks sewn and 1.235 3D Printed Face Shields created and distributed; Covid 19 safety protocols and PPE shared with incoming migrant workers in their language to keep them and community safe; Constructed, painted and delivered 20 picnic tables to Konawaena El. to expand learning spaces; Distributed, for 'Keiki Heroes', Covid educational materials to the 9 public and public charter schools in West Hawaii; Volunteered with Food Basket and Laiopua 2020 food distributions. HELPING OTHER NON-PROFITS - Weeded and repaired sign at Kona Adult Day Center, Painted waterproofing on wooden structures and fencing, planted landscaping and weeded at Higashihara Park; Made, painted and delivered concrete benches to West Hawaii Community Health Center; Clean-up volunteers provided for IRONMAN 70.3. With grant money, partnered with Kona Soil Water Conservation District, created and disseminated community education materials, laid weed suppressant cloth and planted native plants in large areas on the campuses of Konawaena El. and Konawaena High. SIGNATURE LIONS PROJECTS - Sponsored Sight is Beautiful' Poster contest at West HI Elementary Schools and garnered 4 State level winners; Sponsored 'Flag Essay Contest' at local schools; Collected, cleaned and packed 795 pairs of used eyeglasses for people in countries that cannot afford them; Provided 6 scholarships to graduating seniors; Leo Club donated Christmas gift bags of non perishable food and household necessities for Elderly Housing residents with handmade Christmas cards. The Leo Club created and delivered handmade cards to Life Care for Thanksgiving, Hualalai Regency for Christmas, and Valentines Day for first responders at Kailua Police Station, Keauhou Fire Station and West Hawaii Community Health Center.
