About

Now preparing for its 17th season on the Big Island, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival brings some of the most talented young musicians from Hawaii, the U.S., Canada, Australia, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, South America, and Europe to Hawaii Island each summer for intensive study and performance training, affording young artists the opportunity perform with professional musicians under the guidance of some of the world’s most established teachers and mentors. The results are astonishing. The 2020 Virtual Festival included 14 free concerts, masterclasses, and special events, featuring a world-class roster of artists. During the 2019 Summer Festival, more than 20 live concerts and staged performances were presented, giving young artists the invaluable experience and privilege of appearing on stage with some of the top musical artists in their field. During the fall, winter, and spring months, HPAF offers special performances to help support scholarships for aspiring young artists to attend the festival each summer. Previous high season performances have included Jake Shimabukuro, Ofra Harnoy, and An Evening at the Stork Club — an HPAF original production.
