PET CHRONICLES The assault on November has begun. The stores have rolled out all of their Christmas finery just in time for Thanksgiving to sing its winter lament. Daylight savings ends this weekend and the day's will soon get shorter and the nights longer. We all get an extra hour of sleep on Sunday except those of us in Hawaii and anyone who has dogs. I am already done with all of my holiday shopping. 14 Christmas holidays have taught me to prepare in advance and to have everything ready to mail the day before Thanksgiving or at the latest on Black Friday. I learned the hard way about trying to mail stuff after Cyber Monday if you want it to all be late then by all means send it out after Cyber Monday the busiest shopping day of the year. This year we are planning to be closed for Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. Normally we are open half of the day but this year we decided a couple of long three day weekends for our team is just what the last two years of crazy ordered and we are grateful and thankful to be able to have that option. This is your eight-week notice if you need medication for New Years Eve do not leave it to the last minute. We will not be open so make sure you get it early. We will obviously be closed on Thanksgiving as well, but we will be open on Black Friday so if you decide you can not even think about going to the stores that day, remember we will be open. We are still booked out about 6-8 weeks for surgery and 4-6 weeks for appointments so plan accordingly. If you plan on boarding your pets with a boarding facility and they are not up to date on their vaccines make sure you contact us right away so they can get it. We will not be doing any boarding over the holidays this year in an effort to give our team the much needed time off they deserve. We hope everyone understands. We are super excited about some new changes we have made over the last few weeks and we can't wait to tell you about them. We have hired a few new team members, so please go casy on them and give them a warm welcome when you see them. We also have a couple of relief doctors who will be helping out here and there, so Dr. Head, our family and myself can ger a little break now and again. We hope you enjoy meeting them and we know they will do everything they can to keep our patients healthy and our clients happy while we are away for a few days here and there. We also have some ideas about trying to get clients back inside. We are thinking this will not happen until after the Ist of the year but then we would like to try a hybrid version of the curbside service we are offering currently. We are still working out the details and hoping to have the new members of our team up and running at full capacity prior to making the change. Some of the things we have adopted during our COVID adventures are here to stay. Other things will be coming back slowly as we edge into the coming year with a new found sense of purpose, and a better understanding of the world around us. We are excited about what the future of our industry holds and that we are thankful that people have started to stand up for the industry and the people in it. For now let's just focus on being thankful and grateful. Two more months until we can put this year of years to bed. it's been a long road. Please remember, we are all in this together and never have we needed each other more. Hang in there! Keauhou Veterinary Hospital, Experience your pet deserves, Experience you can trust.
