PIKE'S CORNER I am grateful for the time she is spending in the office because that means. I can be right under her feet if she needs me to check her balance, raise her blood pressure when it gets to low and of course help create the comic relief I know she needs. My brother Newton is of no help and I think he is trying to see what snaps first moms nerves or her mind.... it's a close race. I think it safe to say it will be her nerves. We are getting ready to move over our whole database to a new Veterinary Software in the next 2 weeks and we are gearing up for another AAHA accreditation. Our hospital was the very first accredited hospital on the Big Island and has been accredited now for more than 10 years. That is pretty cool since it's a lot of work to get and keep your accreditation. Mom has been revising things and going through all the standards to make sure we don't just meet them but exceed them. I think it is safe to say the holidays are officially underway and the season of "we will circle back to that after the holidays" has begun. My mom is frantically trying to get people hired, while working frantically to get my sisters pageant stuff in place. The time is moving fast and I know my mom is trying to stay ahead of it but she is rapidly falling behind. My mom says she is trying to take one day at a time but it seems as if several days are attacking her all at once. The hospital is 60 years old this year. It was first built in 1962 by Doc McCoy and it has had a few owners over that time. We have made lots of changes and revisions to it over the years and mom says it finally feels like what she had always imagined it could be. Dad is grateful we only have a handful of minor projects left on moms list. That is of course until she makes a new list. That is one thing you can always count on is mom making a list. Her and Santa have something in common. Speaking of Santa I am so excited for the holidays. I love it when the tree goes up the day after Thanksgiving. What I am looking forward to actually is the food that comes with this time of the year and not the tree decorating but hey I am not going to split hairs here. I can also not wait to see what Santa is going to bring me... I really hope I am getting a new blanket. Mine is getting pretty worn. It has been in our family since my sister was a baby so that means it's as old as I am. I think it is time for me to get an up grade. Here is hoping for yummy treats and a warm and cozy holiday season. - Ruff. Keauhou Veterinary Hospital, Experience your pet deserves, Experience you can trust.
