PET CHRONICLES My momma has arrived after nearly two years she has returned to Hawaii. I feel like it's been longer since we have seen her, but she left in May of 2020 after 10 weeks here (we kept her here due to Covid) because we were worried about having her travel. While she was away we added another dog to our family. Newton was so darn excited to meet her I was worried he would hurt her. His enthusiasm knows no bounds and we had to make sure the first day or so she carried an invisible fence sensor to keep him from bowling her right over. But after about 24 hours he has decided he loves her and is keeping her. In fact, instead of his usual spot next to Jacob on the sofa, he was curled up next to my mom. I am still not convinced she isn't feeding him yogurt cover pretzels to win his favor but what ever it takes is fine with me. Pike and Rome are so excited to have grandma back in Hawaii as well...She always gets up early and while Jacob and I relish the extra 10 minutes before we have to drag ourselves out of bed. Meanwhile my mom is already up, showered and lavishing the old dogs with attention. Coming from the bleak negative temperatures in Minnesota she totally enjoys just puttering around the yard. Soaking in a little vitamin D and generally just being able to gear down. Newton is like a puppy in a pet store and mom is the new toy. He loves nothing more than to follow around behind her at her heels "helping" her do chores. He loves to lie on the back of the sofa surveying the situation. Giving a sigh here or a howl there to help feel special. We know the next 5 weeks they will become fast friends... here is to making new friends, enjoying the day and having my mom here with us.
